The Good, the Bad, and the ????

(532 entries, updated January, 2009)

This collection contains good and bad advice from a variety of sources. You be the judge of which is which. The two collections of Proverbs also contain lots of advice (there are some Proverbs and some anonymous advice in this collection). One good thing about quoted advice is that you can 'consider the source' if you wish.

Speaking of sources, one of the more interresting sources cited in this collection is a column written by Mary Schmich and published in the June 1st, 1997 edition of the Chicago Tribune. It was widely (virally?) e-mailed around and incorrectly attributed to the late reclusive author Kurt Vonnegut. It was later set to music by Buz Luhrmann and reveived widespread airplay despite the fact that its length was well in excess of the traditional "3 minute single". So I guess someone must be willing to listen to advice. Perhaps if I set my advice to music my kids might pay attention......

Advice is like snow -- the softer it falls, the longer it dwells upon, and the deeper it sinks into the mind.
